1. Webtoons

What Koreans really love is webtoons. Webtoons are online anime comics. (The most popular app for reading them is Naver-Webtoon.) As it may seem at first, webtoones in Korea are popular not only among young people. But also among the adult population. Usually adults read them on the way from work or to work – this is a kinda ussual way to get rid of stress. In addition, writing a webtoon is a very real way to become famous in Korea and get rich. Which actually is the dream of many Korean teens.

2. Coffee

Either because the work and study take away much time and energy from the Koreans, or simply because of the fact that there are so many stylish, cozy cafes in the country, coffee is very popular. In 90% of cases, between tea and coffee, Koreans choose coffee.

3. Dental hygiene

In Korea, it’s customary to monitor the cleanliness of the teeth. (Most likely it happened because the dentist’s services are very expensive). So Koreans brushing their teeth in the subway toilet, cafe, restaurant or office toilet is normal. Whereas, for example, for Russians, brushing teeth is an absolutely home procedure.

4. Corporate dinners

In Korea, there is such a thing as 회식, which means “work dinner, dinner with colleagues.” Their essence is that after a working day all the employees of a particular department, office get together and go to dinner together.

The whole point of such dinners is that it is almost impossible to refuse them. And all because of a strong corporate culture, a special hierarchy in positions and respect for elders. Refusal from such a dinner can promise at least a bad attitude in the team or even overtime work. And the problem is not that the Koreans cannot understand that you have other plans or are tired. It is just a corporate culture. And it sounds interesting – dinner, but unfortunately especially newcomers often have to “please” their elders, the boss, pour drinks and fry meat, and also listen and maintain conversations that are not particularly interesting. So not everyone is as fun as it seems. And that kind of the lifestyle of Koreans is of course rooted in the distant past.

5. More water, more H20

Koreans really drink a lot of water. It seems they really know how useful it is. Firstly – the first guarantee of a beautiful skin is stay hydrated, or drink plenty of water. Secondly, in Korea, when someone is sick (fever, fever, cough, weakness, fatigue, a cold), the first thing Koreans will advise is to drink more water. It may sound unprofessional but water is what the human body really needs. Water is the No. 1 musthave, and even in restaurants – water is served free and required.

6. Blind dates

As you probably know, for Koreans to get acquainted on the street (just go up and ask for a phone number) – is considered very indecent. Therefore, in most cases, Koreans find their love in a close circle (study, work, family friends) or on a blind date. And this is absolutely real and not in the last century. Blind dates are when someone from your acquaintances (friend, colleague, classmate or even mom) finds a couple for you in the circle of friends and makes a date with you. They tell you the address, and you already meet on the spot – here it is, a blind date.

7. Sun cream

Sunscreen is an important part of Korean beauty treatments. And not only because Koreans like fair skin. But also because protection from ultraviolet rays is the key to youthful skin. Moreover, sunscreen is not only about summer and sunny days, because there is always harmful radiation, and therefore it is often applied.

8. Always ready for the rain

There is no explanation for this point, either Koreans are so assembled, or umbrellas are cheap (which, btw, is true), or they look at the weather forecast – one thing is for sure – Rain …? And as if by magic, all Koreans with umbrellas. How? Idk. But most likely, this is due to the fact that there is China nearby, because of which not very ecological rainfall comes to Korea.

9. Popular online and tv shopping

If on TV, (russian tv for example) on some unpopular channel, a super grater is advertised, then this can be said a channel that almost no one is watching. In Korea, such advertisements on TV are very popular, and people are really actively buying. In addition, many people use local apps for ordering clothes. Because they are several times cheaper. Applications like Gmarket, Coupang.

10. Wedding after 27

This is generally a classic, 95% of Koreans get married after 27. Moreover, this is still an early age, usually ideal for a wedding is the age from 29 to 35. For them, priority is to unlearn and then get a job, gain a foothold and earn some capital, live for yourself – only then you can play a wedding. In part, this is due to the fact that Korea has a very expensive life, education, and real estate. Having created a family, children, expenses increase very much, so it’s possible to get married / get married no one is in a hurry.

11. Cult of teachers and doctors

The two most popular and respected professions in Korea are a teacher and a doctor. In addition, the highest paid. Being a doctor or teacher is prestigious and considered reliable, because the state provides additional payments and strongly supports representatives of these professions. On the other hand, being an entrepreneur in Korea is not considered a very reliable and respected, because in this profession you can rely only on yourself. And Korea’s economy has been going through difficult times in recent years.

12. No clothes that show shoulders or armpits

In Korea, it is considered indecent to wear clothes that show shoulders or armpits more than a decalcite. It is simply indecent. Another thing is skirts – they can be very short. Although it is worth noting that all Korean women wear special shorts under their skirts, just in case. Because in Korea there are many hidden perverts.
